Human factor research for safety in maritime!

1.7.2022

The team of the SAFEMODE project with members from ITU, CALMAC, Sapienza University of Rome, University of Strathclyde, CETENA, CHALMERS and Deep Blue is conducting experiments with seafarers using the maritime simulator at the University of Strathclyde.
For the experiments, in addition to the simulator recordings, neurophysiological and behavioral data are taken from the seafarers to assess human factors aspects of new operational solutions and recommendations.

We greatly acknowledge the support from UK Nautical Institute, Chirp Maritime, Scottish Power Renewables, and Glasgow City College.

SAFEMODE participation in the World ATM Congress 2022

9.6.2022

The SAFEMODEproject will participate in the World ATM Congress 2022 (21-23 June). University of Sapienza will allow the attendees to try a demo where the methodology and technology employed in the SAFEMODE validations will be used. In particular, the attendees's brain activity (EEG signal) will be acquired while dealing with an ATC-like game and the mental workload and stress of the attendee will be assessed and shown in real-time.

Airbus provided feedback on the presentation, description and applicability of NEURO-ID and STAMP, these are two techniques that are presented in the format of fact sheets within the SAFEMODE Human Assurance toolkit. This activity was performed as part of a series of interviews to evaluate the Toolkit.
